Before the show floor opened on the third day, Supervalu presented 35 Master Marketer awards. A total of 450 marketing programs were submitted for the contest and were judged on creativity, clarity and ef- fectiveness. Companies were divided into categories based on average store size, with a new category this year for retailers with five or more locations. Karns Foods, with eight loca- tions in central Pennsylvania, was named Supervalu's 2016 Grand Master Marketer. e family-owned company, which was honored for overall consistency over the years, also received $25,000 to donate to the charity of its choice from the Supervalu Foundation. e Mechan- icsburg, Pa.-based grocer also picked up a private brands prize in the five- stores-or-more category. Foster's Food Fair IGA of Grand Cayman was presented with the People's Choice Award, which was determined by attendees voting for their favorite TV commercial using Supervalu presented $100,000 to Feeding America raised by attendees.
